A clean base for whatever you're blending.

01What it is

A neutral leaf that stays in the background.

"Talas beneng" (Xanthosoma undipes) is a species of taro. Its fertilizer-free leaves are sun-dried and used as a base in herbal smoking products, where they act as a neutral layer that carries whatever flavors a blender adds.

The leaf goes into herbal cigarettes, tobacco-free cigars, and shisha. Its role is the same in all three: to hold a steady burn and stay in the background so the added flavors come through. It's naturally nicotine-free, burns slow and even, and its aroma is mild enough not to compete with whatever it's blended with.
